    Question

As an UNIX/Oracle DBA, I recently had the opportunity to make a COPY of an Oracle database (8.0.5) in NT environ.
I investigated "ORADIM80" and shutdown the database to be copied. Then I made a copy of the directory (folder). From this point I ran through my usual cloning routine; renaming files, editing the copy-init.ora, edit the trace file of the ".. backup controlfile to trace.." etc.

I cannot OPEN the clone! Oracle server want to "recover"
the system tablespace's datafile. It also want to apply
archive logs (the original is not in archive mode).

    Any ideas?

I tried it number of times. It works fine.

Do cold backup since it is not in Archive mode. And then recover it. It should work fine.

If still any problems let mel know
    Thanks
