I have just freaked out upon seeing this. File# 12 belongs to an index tablespace. Why are the values so high?? Any ideas?? Thanx in advance.

probably the indexes of tables are larger than the tables themself so I/O in index file is larger
-
Matter of fact all indexes in this ts are smaller than the table they are associated with.

You could look inside the file to see what objects reside there and see if you have a heavily used/updated index on there.
I do know that there are some bugs that are associated with this view. Particularly if you have set DBWR_IO_SLAVES > 0 is this the case? You might want to file a tar and see if you are hitting one of those bugs. I think there are three or four of them.

As a matter of fact, I have dbwr_io_slaves=1 in the init.ora. Thanx for the input, I'll check up on the bugs (if any).
