Jodie, as Jeff said you had the unfortunate experience of dealing with "managers" that know NOTHING about DBA work. Luckily for me ALL of the managers in my department came from a DBA background so they understand. I have dropped the ball in the past and immediately let people know, the most I ever got was a well deserved "make sure this does not happen again" talk.
I remember when this place was cool.

Thanks, Hanky. That was definitely the case. The "Managers" were all former developers (db2 at that) and were too busy jocking for a position when the company did the reorginization to figure out exactly what Oracle DBAs do. Amazingly, they are all still employed there. I feel sorry for my fellow DBAs there... but not much else to choose from in Kansas these days. They are just happy to have a job.

Is it true that there's only two things come from Kansas? Or am I thinking of something else?

    You guys are relentless!

Get it out of your systems now - I'll only be around for 2 1/2 more weeks... then I'm gone for 3 months!

Hey, good job -- you need to swap one of those girls, I've got three boys you can take your pick of.

Just jokin'. Tsh, now I feel bad for saying that.
