    Hi im looking at metalink now.... most of the post though are little bit old...general guidelines for DB 7.3 to 9.0 and mentioning INTERNAL connections....I understand connect INTERNAL is not supported anymore.

    Still searching for more clues ....

    have you tried to connecting after setting
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) and
    are you still getting the same ora error?

    needs to be part of the ORA_DBA group to do "/ as sysdba"

    Hi kuya....the installer actually pre-sets SQLNET.ORA with the
    value SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) , so i did not change
    any settings here. I just forgot the SYS password so i tried
    connect to "/ as sysdba" and found out its not working.

    We have also another test server with similar set-up (same OS and DB)
    and it is working fine. I did not set any ORA_DBA group here and im
    using Administrator OS account also when i install oracle.

    Ill try to ask our SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR if he had set any ORA_DBA group in the prod server.

    Thanks again.
