    data issues

    hi guys ,

    need advise on the following:

we have 2 databases db1 and db2 ,we export data from db1 to db2 every day.we use db2 for reporting pupose.

Now due to various constraints we are planning to truncate data in db1 but we would like to keep the truncated data in db2 and do the updates everyday.(this will be come historical data)

What is the best way to achieve this. We use 9i release 2 on unix.

    any advise is much appreciated

A new 9i feature CDC (Change Date Capture) may be of interest here (not used it myself; still on 8i):

    thanks guys!!

We tried replication , it's giving some trouble with lob columns. It's not reliable.

as for as materlized views i think the refresh automatically refreshes the current table so any data which is not there in db1 will not be in db2 ..right ..or can we have updatable mv's.I will try this
