I was trying to do a 'Typical' install of Oracle 8.1.6 on a PC.
Everything seems to have been installed OK, but when it trys to create a default DB instance, I get an ORA-3113 error and the DB create fails. I tried creating the instance by hand and it too fails.
Could there be a Jave JRE or JDK version conflict?
What would cause this?
