    Oracle upgrade V8.1.5 to V9i

I have to upgrade Oracle from V8.1.5 to V9i on the same box (Win2000).
I want to do this migration while installing Oracle 9i.
I never use this kind of migration. Is there something i must care during this manipulation?
Must i create another Oracle_home or use the existant?
After migration where can i find my datafile, Control file and logfile? in the first Oracle_Home or in the second?
After Upgrade can i deinstall Oracle 8i with Oracle Installer without problem?

    Thank's

Install oracle 9i in a bew oracle home, then use the migration assistant to upgrade the database, or do it manually yourself.

All your database files will still be in the same place.

You can the uninstall the 8i software when you have a fully working 9i version running

that is your choice, do the upgrade then or do it yourself manually later or run the migration assistant later.

    Whatever you feel comfortable with

then you would have into install 8.1.7 and migrate from that - so two migration steps - or install 9i and use export / import after creating a fresh database
