    prob convert SYSTEM tablespace into locally managed one..help?

    hi,

    I have upgraded my 8.1.7.0 db into 9.2.0.4 in Tru64 unix platform..
    however since in 8i my db was in DMT and now I wish to convert those into LMT...there's no prob convert other tablespaces except SYSTEM which throw me the following error:

    SQL> exec DBMS_SPACE_ADMIN.TABLESPACE_MIGRATE_TO_LOCAL('SYSTEM');
    BEGIN DBMS_SPACE_ADMIN.TABLESPACE_MIGRATE_TO_LOCAL('SYSTEM'); END;

    *
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-10644: SYSTEM tablespace cannot be default temporary tablespace
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SPACE_ADMIN", line 0
    ORA-06512: at line 1

    ....I hv checked that all oracle users are having temp tablespace TEMP and hv restarted the db but still having problem convert SYSTEM to LMT...any comments from gurus here?

    thanks in advance.

    Just my .o2$

    That migrate package is worthless, the only thing you get out of it is not having to access the data dictionary. You still are not able to take advantage of the uniform / system extent,segment functionality. After you migrate you will still see your TBS extent management as USER defined.

    hi OraDoc,

    I see your point thanks for pointing that out to me...
    hmm...So I guess if we really going to harvest the benefit of LMT either we hv to recreate a new TS and migrate the tables from OLD TS into it right?
