which version of oracle 9i Database is available to install on Redhat 9 i386 or solaris 9 on i386 machine? Is it available from net free of cost. I am new to oracle, please help.
However you can install it on Redhat 9 and it works, google for how to set it up. You can download it for free from http://otn.oracle.com ONLY if it is for educational purposes and you are not using it to store anything for commercial or personal use
Yes, you can install Oracle 9i on RedHat Linux 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0, 9, Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1, and on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3 (RHEL AS 3) even they are not certificated. Below is a good website to address most of Oracle installation problems on Linux.
