    * Also wipes tear from eye * While it is a good speech, it is still a speech. Bush's record speaks for itself, he favors defense contractors, the wealthy, building smaller nuclear devices that he can use, violating international treaties on arms, spending trillions on a missile shield that won't get used while refusing to spend a few billion to make our ports safer, cutting veteran benefits at a time when they are needed the most, cutting funding to states so that we can have even more weapons that we won't use, so that the $500 billion dollar deficit this year won't be as large as it could be. Can you say Joint Strike Fighter? Do we need another plane capable of dogfighting, when there hasn't been a dogfight between planes in years? Remember, he's a divider not a uniter.

Dave and gandolf you guys go hug some trees and I'll take MH and go bury some styrofoam cups. Then we'll all hold hands and sing kume-by-ya.
Perhaps we should just play the theme to Top Gun.

It's be a great speech if it weren't full of crap.

Giuliani still doesn't seem to have got the message that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 -- either he doesn't understand that it's The Big Lie, or of course he understands it and is trying to continue it, right? Bernard Kerik repeated the lie earlier on on -- so it seems like you're either being addressed by liars or idiots. Make your choice.

Giuliani also whines about other countries appeasing terrorists back in the 70's and 80's -- he (and the rest of America) have conveniently forgotten about all the $'s that flowed to the IRA for decades, for the "cause" of planting 3,300lb bombs in shopping centers. Not much heard about that nowadays, eh? Remember how the White House used to pressure the UK to enter talks with the IRA? Yes? No? The tune has changed since then, of course. Since then, terrorism became a bad thing apparantly.

Peeking behind the "Kerry is a flip-flopper" inanities, JK voted for the $87 billion for Iraq when there was an amendment to pay for it by rolling back the tax cuts for the rich, and the Republicans took it out hence the vote against. Is that a bit clearer now? Giuliani knows this of course, as do Bush & Cheney and the rest, but like the rest of the repubs they're relying on people being too dumb to watch anything but Fox News. He's probably right, 'cos all over the country they've got sh*t-kickin' rednecks earning minimum wage supporting that $87 billion appropriation, and those same rednecks will be queuing like sheep to vote for the rich guys in the suits. How funny.

Anyway, a long time ago there was much noble talk that 9/11 would never be used to support partisan politics -- the GOP has thrown that away now, and are trying to squeeze as much out of it as they can. Noble souls that they are.

Perhaps we all need to go back and look into the Iran-Contra afair. Wasn't that about arms for hostages?

Also, the Republicans supported the Taliban and Sadam Hussien in the 80's. But then they came after us. I thionk that the CIA calls that blowback. How many times have we intervened in the politics of other countries only to have it blow up in our face.

The republicans supported Noriega, until he started seeling to many drugs. With having republicans in the white house for 16 of the last 24 years, its no wonder the world is a mess.

Go and find out for yourself. Don't just listen to speeches, look at the public records. Read the 9/11 commission report. A voter who just watches TV for information is no better than a poor dumb developer

I supported going into Afgahnistan because that is where the terrorists trained. However, Sadam did not support Al Queida. Try not to get confused. Removing Sadam Hussien and his sons from power only created an opportunity for terrorists. i.e. violence begets more violence.

btw Dave has nothing to gain for telling the truth. Now that Guiliani is out of work, what does he have to gain for supporting Bush?
