ora-12899 during import
Hi friends ,
I am importing database from version 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition to 10g Standard Edition.
everything was working fine but got following error message .
ora-12899 value too large for column ..
This is a huge database of 100GB.
any workarounds for fixing this error.
Thanks

isnt the error obvious, you are trying to enter data that is too big for the column
-
but how did it fit in .. table structure is same ...
data is there in varchar2(72) ..
and i am importing into similar structure with varchar2(72)width ..
only difference is i am changing operating system
from
1) open VMS to windows
2) Enterprise edition 8.1.7 to standard 10g
3) 64 bit to 32 bit
4) characterset is different
if anybody could tell which could be causing .. then we can redo this operation .... while importing it say width is 74 ...
following is the error message as seen in log file
IMP-00019: row rejected due to ORACLE error 12899
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 12899 encountered
