    Shoot the DBA's

We are in the process of upgrading to 9i here. I am writing a package that accesses a table in another schema and I have permission to the table granted through a role.

I asked the dba's to do a direct grant to the schema owner so that I could compile my new package, and I was told that it is department policy not to do direct grants on select to anyone. and there are no exceptions to this rule.

So I sent the dba a select from dba_tab_privs showing a direct grant to the schema owner from the other user, and an excerpt from tahiti explaining why I needed it. I would have thought that being a dba he would have known about the changes in security with 9i as well as how they do grants. Apparently not. Which is funny because there are 64 direct grants in another database from one schema to another.

I could do my job if it weren't for the d mn dba's!!!!!
