    SGA configure

I have a oracle db version 7.3.2.1 . I need to increase the processes parameter in the init.ora.
Do i need to increase the value nproc in the solaris 2.5.1. system?

I just upgrade my 1GB RAM to 4GB and swap space to 9GB.

What else parameter do i need to change ??

I am new to unix and oracle . Please help .

    Thank you

First check OS kernel parameters in /etc/system file. And increase shmmax and semmns values.

    Sample values in /etc/system
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=10
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni=100
    set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=100
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns=2500

    I'm talking about unix solaris.

I think NPROC parameter is used in HP only, not in Solaris.

    Can someone confirm it?

I don't know of anything you need to do on the OS side if you increase processes in Windoze. I've gradually increased from 150 to 500 under NT without probs.
