    Rman

    Sun solaris 2.8
    Oracle DB 8.1.7.2

    Hi,

    We have just upgraded to a new server by creating the databases first then using export/import. This included moving the recovery catalog database, we installed RMAN on the new server then did export/import of the schema (not sure if that was required now).

    Anyway, Monday nights backup worked fine using HP Omniback II and RMAN but last nights backup had the following error:
    /*

    RMAN-08013: channel dev_0: piece 1 created
    RMAN-08503: piece handle=Tuesday.dbf comment=API Version 2.0,MMS Version 65.4.10.176
    RMAN-08525: backup set complete, elapsed time: 00:31:25
    RMAN-03023: executing command: partial resync
    RMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resources
    RMAN-08031: released channel: dev_0
    RMAN-08031: released channel: dev_1
    RMAN-08031: released channel: dev_2
    RMAN-08031: released channel: dev_3
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-03008: error while performing automatic resync of recovery catalog
    RMAN-07004: unhandled exception during command execution on channel default
    RMAN-10035: exception raised in RPC: ORA-00001: unique constraint (RMAN.CKP_P) violated
    RMAN-10031: ORA-1 occurred during call to DBMS_RCVCAT.BEGINCKPT

    */

    is this because we did export/import of the recovery catalog and as the db is a new one it will try and use the same keys?? Can you please shed some light as I'm still getting to grips with Rman... what options do we have??

    thanks in advance..

    I read it a couple of times..I'm still not sure what you mean. Are you saying you installed a newer version of a database (using dbca or whatever) and did a exp/imp from old target to new target? What did you do on the catalog? The post is kinda confusing..explain what you did again.
