Thread: report builder to database

    Question

    Hi.

    I am trying to connect to a local database from reports builder. I get the following errors:

    rep-0501: could not connect...
    ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name

    I have already tried:

    Stop and start all services involved.


    Also, I can connect to database through sql+.

    Any help? Suggestions?

    Sounds like you don't have the TNSNAMES.ORA set up correctly for the Report Builder Tool.

    Does the SQL *Plus use the same Oracle home as Reports?

    hello,

    I encountered this problem before and there are several issues that you need to consider. If you can make a call then you could reach me at 732-885-0160. This is in NJ.

    If you can't then i need the ffg. info:

    1. What is the version of your ORACLE? Enterprise or Personal Edition?
    2. Are you using REPORTS6.0 or REPORTS6i?
