    Last famous words of Developers!

"Who needs version control when you have backups?"
    -----------------------------------------------------
    "This shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to change;
it's only one line of code."
    -----------------------------------------------------
"You'll have it in the morning."
    -----------------------------------------------------
"I'll finish that before I leave tonight."
    -----------------------------------------------------
    "I'm sure it's compatible".
    -----------------------------------------------------
"Don't worry about turning that off--
there's nobody connected to it at the moment."
    -----------------------------------------------------

DEV: Can we change (insert item here)?
    DBA: Why?
DEV: Well, err, uhm, it's, uh......ermmmm, easier to code that way.

Don't you love when they try to alter the database or data model cause it's easier to code. It's like the whole RDBMS revolves around their friggin code.

If it weren't for developers you would not have much of a database to maintain. Having said that I have seen developers wonder why their query took so long after they wrote a cartesian product. That's what I call being thourough.

Don't they ask you to increase the size of the temp tablespace first?

No, they complain behind your back to theor mgr that the stupid old dba has the system configured incorrectly and their golden queries keep breaking cause of it.

I certainly took the time to explain the concept of cartesian product. Not all programmers are inept at writing queries though. But they way did I mention that I am a PL/SQL developer ?

Really! What new features are you adding to PL/SQL?

    Of course, if they're small changes, they won't need testing . . . . .

That much was eveident by the first sentence you typed on this thread. No DBA in their right mind would defend a developer under any circumstances.

The job pool is robust, shoot em all!
