Oracle 7.3.2 installation write error
Hi ,
I am trying to install oracle 7.3.2.1 which running in the solaris 2.5.1 box from the CD.
During installation ,
this error came out :
"A write error occured while trying to move
'/cdrom/oracle/rdbms/lib/clntsh.mk' to
'/home0/oracle/app/oracle/product/7.3.2/rdbms/lib/clntsh.mk'
Would you like to retry the operation, ignore the error or
allow the error to be processed by the Installer?
When i pressed processed ,
ocommon.ins(209):WRITE ERROR while message 1723 not found,
message handle not initialized
/cdrom/oracle/rdbms/lib/clntsh.mk.
It it caused by patches ?
Anyone can help ?
Thank you & Best Regards

Sounds funky to me. Disk corruption maybe? check your /ect/adm/messages and see if there's anything in there.
Oracle it's not just a database it's a lifestyle!

I hope it's just a bad choice of words in the diagnostic: how do you move a file from a read-only medium?

But what is the problem in moving files from read-only media ??

If it's a move you delete the original! (as opposed to copy)

ah!! You are right. I had "copy" in my mind all the while.

In that case , it is the Installer CD error ?

have you check your access rights to the dir that you want your oracle to be installed?
-
during oracle installation only /home/oracle folder.
Have granted full access to the home and oracle folder.
