trouble importing 10g export into 9i

i got an IMP-00010 when i tried to import
    a 10g dump into 9i.

i ran the catexp7.sql script as per documentation.
now how do i run the exp7 export utility? where can i find it?
    shouldn't exp7 be in the oracle_home/bin after i run catexp7.sql?

    thanks

catexp7 is for exporting an Oracle v7-compatible dump file.

Use the export utility for 9i to extract from 10g.

do i have to copy the exp utility from the 9i bin to the 10g bin?
sorry if this is a dumb question. the 9i database is at a remote location.

Read the documentation. Utilities guide. Takes all of five minutes to read and understand. http://tahiti.oracle.com, pick a version, click on list of books, click on UTI, start reading.

Buy a third party reference book. Virtually all of them lay out the process in exquisite detail.

You can export from the 10g db using the remote 9i exp, or install to a new home on the same server as the 10g instance
