Oracle Migration to Red Hat Linux 8
Hello,
I have an Oracle 8.0.5 database installed on a Novell 5.1 server.
I want to migrate my database to Oracle 9i and install it on a Linux Red Hat 8 server.
I have a total of 8 client workstations running Windows XP and Windows 98.
I also have a licensing issue between the Windows XP and Windows 98 client computers.
Can this be done ? How can I go about this ?
Regards,

Is this a production database? If so, I wouldn't use RH8 as it is not a supported platform.
You would accomplish this via export/import or db links depending on the size of your data.

Some more info .....
Hello,
It is a company database. The database is about 1.2 Gigabytes in size and sites on a 17 Gigabytes hard disk.
There are about 8 users running on Windows XP Pro and Windows 98 SE clients. The Windows 98 SE clients contain the Oracle Forms and Report Runtime environments. The WIndows XP Pro contain the Oracle Forms 6i.
I was told that I need to configure the Tablespace, Rollback segments and so forth after I install a new database.
Regards,
PT

You would have to configure tablespaces before an import which is probably the best method for a DB you size. No RBS in 9i - it's automatic undo management now.
Again RH 8 is not a supported platform; you need RHAS 3.
