How do I export Oracle table data into Excel with Formatting?

    Hi Friends,
I want to export the employees table records into excel spreadsheets with formatting. For instance, I need to get all the column names and also data correctly fitted into the cells of the excel file. For this I am using the spool technique and also the UTL package, but I am not able to get the formatted output. Pls give your suggestions.

    Thank You,

    Another (free) option ...

Just to add : IF you are using Oracle 8i or better, with sql*plus 8.1.7 or higher, you ALREADY have a way : use the SET MARKUP HTML command in sql*plus, generating a .HTML file, and open it in Excell : the columns WILL be cells in Excell, and Excell WILL recognize any html "beatifiers" included, like font, size, colors, etc. Search the old messages in this Forum to find examples and hints.

Just dump it into Excel and format it from there.
