    Question

    hello
    On a unix platform using 8i db. I installed the oracle binaries from using oracle installer. As soon as the installer was complete it created a listener called "listener". How can i rename it to PROD and be able to use sqlplus user@ <new listener name" sqlplus user@prod?

    Just add relevant info in the listener.ora for the db that you want to connect to. You need not rename the listener.ora file.
