    conntiguous, logical or physical

    from "http://www.dbasupport.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35360&perpage=10&highlight=coalesce&pagenumber=1"

They might be logically contiguous within Oracle, but physicaly (on disk) they are almost certain not to be. That's one of the reasons why the benefits of small number of extents in nonsense

hi, just want to clarify the above. When oracle wants a new extent, all it needs is a free contiguous logical extent and doesnt matter whether this is contiguous on the physical side of things ?

    thanks
