    Install Forms6i on Oracle 9i

    I am trying to install forms6i on database 9i. The install fails saying can not use oracle_home ora92. Do i need to install forms9i with 9i database? I really do not want to do that as that has other stuff like Jdeveloper etc. What is the work around for this? I hope we do not have to go back to 8i for this istall to work.

    A few screens into the Oracle Developer installation is a screen titled 'Oracle Installation Settings'.
    On this screen, use the following entries:

    Name: OraDev
    Location: C:\oracle\OraDev

    This should fix the problem.

    Further explanation:
    When you installed the Oracle database, it installed into an 'Oracle Home' called ora92. The directory path for this installation is probably C:\oracle\ora92. Which is fine and good.

    Oracle Developer Suite requires that Oracle Developer Suite be installed into its own 'Oracle Home'. Using C:\oracle\OraDev meets this need.
