How I obtains this information?
The company where work has one database that it is not managed internally, was passed the administration to great multi national with three letters only in the name, the problem is that this database was unavailable in last the two months 3 times and me was requested that raised the following information: in the dates where database was unavailable how much down time of this database had? Detail I do not have access to the alert(sid).ora.
How I obtains this information?
With one it prays for GOD?
Crying?
Cursing the Larry?
Saying with the Boss
that of the one not
to make?

When your company is not worrying about the DB, why should you bother?

I love it. You outsource your DB operations to another company but you have to hire people to monitor the uptime. Let me know the company, I want to short their stock

Nah, they'll just edit out the shutdow/startup commands.

If this were me, I would make sure auditing is turned on and then I would audit the connect/disconnects. This would give me a database perspective of what is going on during all times.
Also, I would create a DDL trigger that would capture the shutdown/startup of the database so I have proof of when this beast was down.
I would also write a script that tried to connect to the database every X minutes and record when I couldn't connect.
Oh wait, I already do this, forget it.
