character set different on both source and target database for exp/imp

I Have to take dump of one table in database on prduction system and import on to some testing database but both databses have different character set .

what is the pocedure to proceed? do i need to do any character set conversion or just conventional method of exp/imp works?

imp will take care of any required character set conversion. No special action is required from your side.
