Can Set transaction override autocommit in SQL*PLUS
HI,
Can I override autocommit( SET AUTOCOMMIT ON ) by setting a new transaction ( SET TRANSACTION) in SQL* Plus??
if not , are there any other ways I can override autocommit
apart from turing it off. Can anyone help!

I believe you can leave it off (if you want), then perform a transaction starting with Set Transaction .... and then commit when done.

Thanks for your reply. After some experiments it seems that by starting a new transaction will not override the autocommit
setting.
SQL> set autocommit on
SQL> set transaction read write
2 ;
Transaction set.
SQL> update test set col1= 'TEST'
2 /
2 rows updated.
Commit complete.
SQL>
Do you know another way of turning off autocommit apart
from SET AUTOCOMMIT OFF?
