Script required
People keep on referring me to the manual. Does anyone have a script to automate this? If it can make my exports run quicker that would be a bonus too.

24 hours in a day .... 24 beer in a case .... coincidence?

Jurij, please ignore me. It's just a bad joke/play on words. Manual as in Oracle docs. Automation, as in does anyone have a script that will read the manuals for me. I mention the exports because generally posters who are told to read the manuals are asking imp/exp questions.

I fell out like an idiot, what can I say.
It's only been a couple of days since we joined EU and I just realized it will take couple of decades for me to spot the smell of Brit humor....

When you're done do you want to swap it for the backup and recovery utility I've just finished. It creates DML triggers on all your important tables, and emails the DBA with the details of the changes. If you need to recover, just import the export (rows=n, 'natch) you did the night before and key in all the records by hand. Now my exports take a couple of minutes and we don't need any downtime for cold backups. It scales well too. Just hire another DBA as the database grows.
