Unhappy Install of Oracle9i v2 Dev Suite and Listeners/Agents with OEM?

    Ok...here we go:

I am a newbie. I have installed Oracle 9i RDBS and have created
the OEM in a separate database. Both are working fine and discovery,
after an initial problem is fixed.

Now I have installed the Oracle 9i v902 Developer Suite since I am working on my Applications Developer cert. However, I have a problem.

There seems to be an error in a listener or agent starting (Win2k Events log: Oracle9iOraDS902Agent: Agent process exited abnormally during startup). My OEM and Instances are functioning fine. OEM doesn't discover the DS though.

The documentation on the RDBS and OEM were pretty coherent in explaining these things. The documentation for the Dev Suite is not
giving me a clue as to what is starting in the background other than to say that there are default ports for some of the products.

The documentation part number is A95828-02 Install Guide.
    Section: 3.2.1.2 TNS Names
    Section: 3.2.1.3 Default Ports

Am I missing something here? What needs to be "on" and listening so
that everything is going through OEM?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    John

    1) You can browse this to see if it helps with what/how you did the installation of iDS:
    http://www.dbasupport.com/oracle/ora...kbook3_1.shtml

    2) The OEM you are talking about in the beginning is not the OEM you want (or need) to be using. There is a simple startup command to launch forms services for your iDS environment. That command is in ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\DevSuite and is named startinst.sh. "stopinst.sh" is used to stop the process. "DevSuite" is in the path if you are using 10g (9.0.4) version of Developer Suite; otherwise, it is "Oracle9iDS."

Your suggestion worked. I did a little more research and I
think the OEM that confused me was the repository. That is my
    next task.

    Thanks for the help.
