synonym for db links

can we create synonym for database links? if yes what is the syntax and procedure..

i tried before on 8i but unfortunately cannot.. donno on 9i or 10g can or not.

AFAIK you cannot have synonyms for dblinks.

sorry guys my fault, gave a wrong dblinkname and tried, just now realised it.

pando, if i create a synonym for dblink then how do i specify my sql.

select * from xyz@synonynname

is the above stmt right?

SQL> create public synonym dumbass for remote_schema.dumbass@db_link_name;


This way you are creating a synonym locally for the remote table that you are accessing through the db_link.
