    ORA-1114 --what to look first

    ORA-1114
ID ERROR WRITING BLOCK TO FILE %s (BLOCK # %S)

The above error is coming when running brio reports through
odbc in one of our client place.

what I have to look first during trobleshooting?

    thanks

Well, what I do normally when I start trouble shooting is to simply go to Metalink, plug the error number into the search box and start to read. If that doesn't help I pulg the error number into an internet search engine. Then as a last resort I search the archives on this site. By then I've got the answer. But, since so many people here would much rather post the question here expecting someone to tell them so they don't have to do the reasearch is by far the way to go when trouble shooting.

So, with that all said... After pluging your error into Metalink it looks as though you may have a file size limit or a possible bug (depending on your version of Oracle)according to Gina from Oracle support.
    Oracle it's not just a database it's a lifestyle!

check the size on disk where the file resides, if its out of space or corrupt or disk going offline?

In this case, I'd start with the alert log to get the full error stack.
    Especially any operating system errors.

The person sitting there has no knowledge in db. There is no connectivity too.

After analyzing the db there, with ts and df s
i have done the following things,, and the Problem is solved.

Dropped the previous rollback segments which grown big,,1gb plus,
it is a small database of size 5 gb.

Created another Temp ts and assigned that .//
Previous temp ts grown to 1gb +//

Thanks all for your valuable replies.
