Hi
I was wondering which metod would yiled better perfomance, striping or seperating index in a disk and data to another disk?
-
As far as I know just striping. Differentmajor tablespaces should go on different disks but I don't think you should go that far as separating tables and index on different disks. :-)

You should do both for better performance. Put index and table in different tablespaces. Also, do strip @ operating level.

abhijit is right, separating the tables from indexes will lead to better performance. I've read that placing them in different OS mount point is advisable.

Cary Milsap who used to be with Oracle's Advanced Performace Group wrote an excellent whitepaper on this subject along with a paper on OFA. I'll see if I can locate a link to it and post it here.
