i was instrcuted by my seniors to do so....
anyway, if have small datafiles, then the value for max_filesize has to be really huge for huge databases....

So, is there a problem with that? It's just a parameter setting that can be increased. Only thing is the DB has to be bounced if you're not on 9i

i have to make the change... and wanted to add soemthing small but was (according to your terms), "told", "command", "instructed" to add bigger datafiles..
earlier on , u meant that its not good to add such huge datafiles?
