LECCO sql expert - opinions?
What do you think about that software? I am using it for couple of days for query tuning and it is absolutely perfect (It rewrites the problematic query in all possible ways, also using hints, etc and that it can execute all of them and will give time for execution and all statistics.). I heard QUEST have something similar, had anybody used it?
Share your opinions on those kind of products pls.

The QUEST product is TOAD.It has great DBA functionalities and is easy to use if you know what a DBA is actually suppose to do...
Check the Oracle mag for adds on DBA/DEV tools if you can...

I have dabbled with Lecco quite a bit and it is excellent for SQL tuning. Usually I will use OEM to look at the top 10, and then use Lecco to re-write. Very powerfull tool, not the most user friendly but there are a lot of options.
I have never used Toad.

About 5 years ago I played with Quest SQLab or SQLExpert (or some name like that). You could grab queries from the pool and it would propose tuning improvements. I decided it was much too expensive for my use.

Wil these tools handle analytic functions, or subquery factoring clauses?

Look at SQL expert for Oracle, you can download a free trial.
Try before you buy.

From Leccotech....
"Yes, LECCO SQL Expert handles analytic functions (support available since version 3.3.0) and subquery clauses.
The latest version of LECCO SQL Expert for Oracle is version 3.7.0.

Were they talking about subqueries, or "subquery factoring" clauses (WITH clauses), do you know?
I'm wondering if you gave the tool a query that would perform better with an analytic function or with a WITH clause, would it take steps to convert it and test? It seems like that could be quite a technical challenge.
