hello,
this is the extract of alertlog.
SNP0: terminating instance due to error 472
Instance terminated by SNP0, pid = 190
whats this error all about?
-
if one background process dies then the whole database will go down ad this is what is happening with your database since snp0 is one of processes that manages scheduled jobs
-
Hi,
Do you have any alert log files or trace .trc files generated and can u post it.
-
but I donot have any scheduled jobs and raghu I posted the extracts of alertlog do U need any trace files.
-
Hi,
If u have any trace file generated with SNP,just post it and if you mention the operation system and which version of oracle u r using it will be greatful.
-
DBW0: terminating instance due to error 472

If you have oracle_trace_enable=TRUE in init.ora file, but you do not have files *.dat in the Oraclehome/otrace/admin/
try out like this
1)If you want to disable OTRACE, make sure in init.ora file you set
oracle_trace_enable = FALSE
You can also verify that files
collect.dat, facility.dat and regid.dat are removed from dir-ry
ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin.
(2) if you want to enable OTRACE, make sure in init.ora file you set
oracle_trace_enable = TRUE.
Also, the following command executed in ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin dir-ry will create (re-create) the *.dat files needed for this utility:
ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin> otrccref
