pga_aggregate_target question
Dear All, Oracle9i on Sun 5.8
I am planning to use pga_aggregate_target. But I have a question here. Suppose I set it to 50Mb, I have one server process which is using 40Mb for sorting. Then another server process starts and needs 20M for sort. Since the area is only 50M. What will happen to the database system? Any idea?
Any help is appreciated.

The sorts will be done in TEMP tablespace.

Re: pga_aggregate_target question
And remember also that pga_aggregate_target sets the maximum space that can be used from the RAM for sorting, etc. This (say 50M) is not allocated at instance startup. And 50M is a very small figure. I have noticed that about half a giga is usally quite optimal.
