    Unhappy

Can anyone give advice as to the cause(s) of this error? It is occuring when the app tries to start a job. Performance for this particular app has been degrading over the last couple weeks. A check of the manual would lead you to believe that a user PGA cannot get it's allocated SORT_AREA_SIZE chunk of memory from the system. This app has worked fine in the past...a system reboot (HP-UX) was done 2 days ago...sys admin reports no changes in system config...no errors on the system or DB logs...no changes have been made to any init.ora parameters...I believe the Oracle version was upgraded about 2-3 weeks ago, from 8.0.5 to 8.0.6. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

FYI, we have been looking at MetaLink for help, but nothing so far that specifically addresses this problem.

Decrease the size of the SGA. I ran into this problem a few days ago on NT, decreasing the size of the SGA did it.
