    for those interested 10g is available for download on OTN (HP-UX only at the moment though)

    HP-UX? Is Larry in Carly's camp now? I wonder when the CD packs for W2k be available?

    apparantly a few days, i guess HP was the least buggy version

    and as I speak Solaris (SPARC) 64 Bit has been put up there

    so whos taking bets on Linux or Widnows next :-)

    ok, Oracle say docs up on Monday, announcement on Tuesday, Linux to be released in the week and Windows will take longer.

    Its a shame, cos thats the one platform most users will install to play with on their PC's at home.

    I dont have a spare Solaris or HPUX machine lying about to play with

    Then you'll like this email I received about the "Oracle on Windows" article:

    In my company (Fortune 50 with 150,000 employees), Oracle costs 30-40 times as much as MS SQL Server to deploy. We have wall to wall client access licenses as part of our MLA with Microsoft, so every user can access an unlimited number of SQL Servers with no further licensing cost. Anyone who uses Oracle on Windows is incompetent and irresponsible. Period.

    So, the moral of the story here, boys and girls, is don't use Oracle on Windows, even at home. It's just not the prudent thing to do, I guess.

    Maybe it's their people, who negotiated with Oracle Sales, who are incompetant. They're very happy to sell such a license.
