    Lightbulb what is the best way to store a table in memory in PL/SQL

    Hi,

    CREATE TABLE TBL_DESCRIPTIONS (
    DESCR_ID number,
    DESCR_TEXT varchar2(200)
    );

    What is the best way to store it in the memory ?? in what kind of structure ?
    Here are some options...

    1. make a query everytime when i need to have a value
    2. store in variable with index (index is descr_id)
    TYPE string_tab_tp IS TABLE OF VARCHAR(200) INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
    3. something else ??? do you have any idea ?

    Thanks a lot !

    I would say that it depends on exactly why you want it in memory, andwhat sort of operations you want to carry out on it, andwhat other users will be doing to the table at the same time.

    it is just a static/configuration table, no insert/delete/update statement.
    But I have a PL/SQL procedure which needs to have data from this table many times.
    The table has aprox. 1000 records.

    Option 2 sounds good, then.
