hello everybody,
I have oracle 8.1.5 on NT and I see partitioning is not enabled ,when I try to create a partitioned table it gives error and in v$option also it gives false to partitioning.I checked in CD also but there no component is found regarding partitioning.also I see
Export transportable tablespaces false
Function-based indexes FALSE
Instead-of triggers FALSE
will i be able to use these features.or these r not in 8.1.5 ,what's the issue?

Do you have Workgroup Server (Standard Edition)?? This edition will not have the options.
-
halo,
I am using enterprise edition of oracle 8i version-8.1.5
if that donot have partitioning option.
-
I believe there is a way to enable those options, but am unaware of how this is done. Check for notes on Metalink, I'm sure they'll have it.

Hi ,
Try running this $ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\ Catpart.sql in sys.If it doesnt work, then I think u must have not enabled the partition option while instalation.I have faced this some time before. So u have to reinstall Oracle, with the partition option checked while installation.
Cheers,
Vinod Kumar.

hello vinodkmg,
i donot see any check option in CD regarding partitioning.I have checked it thoroughly,it only says typical or custom installation,I also checked all compnents of custom installation.anybody know about it?

I think you may be using Workgroup Server (Standard edition).
-
can u tell whats the difference, why this workgroup server version is used?
-
SELECT * FROM V$VERSION;
The first line should indicate whether or not you have Enterprise Edition.
