two unix profiles
Hi all,
I am trying to install a second Oracle version (817).
I will be creating a second home for the new version.
UNIX aix 4.3.3
So I thought I would create two profiles. The original profile would run when I log in (.profile). I then created a second profile (.profile817) to be ran on my command. Problem is:
I keept getting prompted for the ORACLE_HOME. All other variables seem to be correct, except it doesn't know what the new home is.
$ . .profile817
/home/oracle
ORACLE_HOME = [/home/oracle] ?
Any ideas, why? Or how else could I set up two versions on one box?
Thx,
Kathy

Just install in new $OH, add to oratab file, and use oraenv to setup your profile after you have chosen a ORACLE_SID.
