Data flow

Hi

I am a bit confused about the data flow of Inserts.

When updations are taking place,
oracle places the blocks from datafiles to the SGA..

But when insert is taking place
how it is dealt..? It is written to the
redo log buffer then to log files..
then How it is coming to the data files..?

check point triggers dbwriter.

dbwriter updates datafiles.

even a log switch can cause a check point.
