    Question Solaris upgrade

I've heard DBA's in the past talking about upgrading the solaris version on a box without reinstalling oracle or relinking. Has anyone ever had any experience of doing this, in particular upgrading from solaris 2.6 to 9 using oracle 7.3.4 (yes I know im a dinosaur

I would appreciate any comments anyone has regarding this.

The "upgrade" is really an install of the newer version onto the disk, and you will receive a warning about losing data on the disk. In practice, you will want to move important files off of the disk, do the installation, then replace the files.

Were you able to run Oracle 7.3.4 on Solaris 9?
