Failover servers/software
System Admins here talking of providing fail-over servers for our Oracle systems. Not Oracle specific utlities to be used (No replication, materialised views or whatever).
We run Win2k servers and they are talking about using Legato or Double Take.
Anyone have any experience of these tools?

So why don't you consider using Oracle's FailSafe? It provides exactly the functionality you are looking for, with no additional cost and nothing to be changed on your database/application. And it works excelent!

We're running a mix of 8i and 9i (Standard Edition) on Win2k and WinNT servers... Is Failsafe good with these?
I have no experience of FailSafe - where can I read up on it?
Thanx

Yes. Supports anything from 7.3 and above, bot SE and EE on either WinNt or Win2K.

This could serve as a starting point: http://otn.oracle.com/tech/windows/failsafe/index.html
