    You set extent limit for segments, maxsize for datafile... what´s wrong?

    Ok, what you are talking about too! Since when Oracle add datafiles by itself?!

    When we talk about auto-extend we mean datafiles not tablespaces!

    what i meant is even with auto-extend on..if lazy DBA doesn't chk the OS filesize...u'll still hit problem..which is y auto-extend shld be off and DBA performing constant chk which is preferred as u r in control

    And I said there is this parameter called MAXSIZE....
