Oracle Internet Directory an overkill for LDAP?
There are many implementation of LDAP out there. Are there any good reasons Oracle's OID is better than others? Is storing LDAP data in a database an overkill? I think things like directory replication can be done for other LDAP implementation as well.
Any comments?
Thanks,

Why store ldap data in an Oracle Database (OID)?
Good question. Here's a few reasons why I recommend it.
Point in time recovery
Reusing existing (and probably highly available) database hardware
Open datasource
If this is your enterprise centralized authentication store, overkill is way better than underkill.
