    Talking OS authentication mixup

On Friday past I created 2 new 9i databases. One for testing and the other for development. The application running on the database uses OS AUTHENTICATION. Therefor each app. user is authenticated by its domain\username. Very simple.

If I connect as the OS user to Oracle Enterp. man. or PLSQL it gives me an error: invalid username\password;logon denied.

But, if I connect as SYSDBA without providing a username/password it logs in as "SYS" and not as "mydomain\myname as sysdba" .

What am i missing? what do i need to set so that I can authenticate my os as a "normal" user?

    thanx in advance.

    problem solved.

if you ever get this problem of "domain\username" OS authentication....goto your init parameter=OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX and delete the default OPS$ value. The system will then authent you as the OS user "domain\username".
