    what privillege to grant?

we have a new employee who is a data modeler. He needs to see the stuctures of all the existing tables. As a DBA, how do you grant privile to him?

"create session" and "select any dictionary" should do it.

only if he needs to see the data -- if it's just the structures then the dictionary priv should suffice.

"select any" (table or dictionary) will make the user see dba tables/views as well. Not a big problem but then you always come across users fresh out of a 3-day class and they ask you questions like "why is SQL*Net message received" waits are too high ??
    svk
