How do you find out the timezone in which the server runs?

HP/UX...set |grep TZ
NT, net-op in and check.
Or are you talking about getting this info from a SQL session?

Say, you have serveral servers running in different areas.

Well, you can use the above commands with the HO (short for HOST)command first.
SQL> HO set |grep TZ
We had this topic a few months ago but I can not find it, but I remember there being a dictionary view that had this info.
So much for my short term memory.

SELECT TZ_OFFSET(SESSIONTIMEZONE), TZ_OFFSET(DBTIMEZONE) FROM DUAL;
