    I am more of tempting to say go ahead and kill. But I would not advice on this. I would prefer to further dig and see, is it being caused by one application or is it just all the connections to oracle.

    The way to test this would be to establish a sqlplus connection from a client system and note down the session. Then close the client connection and monitor the session to see if it was getting closed. This way you can narrow the problem to the application or to the oracle instance. If its on oracle instance, it could be that PMON/SMON is failing to awake up and do the house cleaning. BTW, are you running MTS on 8i? If so can you try the dedicated connection option and see ? This could be a bug?

    The ora-600 12333 is reported when a request is being 
    received from a network packet and the request code in the packet is 
    not recognized. The three additional values report the invalid 
    request values received.
    You might want to enable the dead connection detection.
