Any specific reason for using Streams. When Advanced Replication can take care of this why trying to get you self a headache.

Streams involes many underlying technologies like logminer, advanced queing, advanced replication, using dblinks etc.

The concept is to extract changes from redo logs (logminer) and then pass them to a staging area (queuing) then propogate the messages (replication and dblinks) to remote DB then extract the messages on remote DB (queing) and use PL/SQL procedure to apply changes to the required tables.

The above can be performed in various ways, Streams is a bit complicated and not much help from Oracle themself.

But then its up to you, want to be adventurous then go ahead. But i would suggest you to stick to Advanced Replication when it can fullfill what you are looking for.

I would also say that it would be safe enough to use only Advanced Replication.
